Rockers Foo Fighters are in charge of the Billboard 200 this week with their new album Concrete And Gold, which faced no real competition when it came to securing the top spot on the tally. The record, their second to lead the pack, moved more than twice as many units as the runner-up, Lil Uzi Vert’s Luv Is Rage 2, which was also able to debut at No. 1 when it was first released late last month. This week, the hip-hop star’s first proper studio album moved 50,000 units.
Last frame’s champion, Thomas Rhett’s Life Changes, slips only slightly, settling for third place in its second turn on the chart. That’s a very healthy showing for week No. 2, as there have been many records released in 2017 that have disappeared from the highest region almost immediately and tumbled down the list.
Hip-hop stars own the next two positions, with Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. coming in at No. 4 and XXXTentacion's 17 climbing slightly to No. 5, while R&B star Khalid’s debut American Teen rises once again, lifting to No. 6 this week.
K-pop stars BTS score their first top 10 effort with their latest, Love Yourself: Her, which kicks off at No. 7. The EP shifted 31,000 copies, with about half of that sum coming from pure sales, while the rest were made up of streams and equivalent sales (from people buying a handful of the songs, but not the entire product). Before this week, BTS had reached as high as No. 26, which was still a triumph for a K-pop act in the States.
